Muster POS

Card payments.

Cards are taken on the shop's own bank EFTPOS terminal, through Linkly. The card fees are whatever the shop agrees with its bank.

Bank EFTPOS through Linkly

The amount goes to the terminal

The till sends the amount to the terminal, so it is never keyed in twice, and the sale is recorded once the bank approves it.

Questions from the terminal appear on the till

When the terminal needs an answer partway through a sale, the question shows on the till screen and is answered there.

Refunds from the till

A refund is started from the order on the till and goes through the terminal, so the customer presents their card again, the same as for a sale.

It asks rather than assumes

If the power goes out mid sale, the till asks the terminal what actually happened when it comes back, instead of guessing. A payment whose outcome is genuinely unknown is recorded as unknown, never quietly as a failure, because that is what leads to a card being charged twice.

Knows when the terminal is offline

If the terminal loses its connection, every staff screen shows a red notice until it is back.

Checking the money

Against the terminal's own record

Order history compares the day's card payments with the terminal's own journal, and shows any difference in red.

Against the bank statement

The reports list the card takings the bank should deposit for each day, ready to tick off against the statement.

What the shop needs

An EFTPOS terminal from the shop's bank that works with Linkly. The shop arranges the terminal and its fees with the bank, and Muster connects it to the till. Ichi Cafe uses a CommBank terminal.

Card details

The full card number never reaches Muster. At the counter the terminal reads the card and tells the till the result. Online, the customer pays on Square's own page.

Square

Square Terminal

Supported on the same code path, switched from the admin screen.

Online orders

Customers pay on Square's checkout page, and the order prints in the kitchen once Square confirms the payment.

Accredited by Linkly

Accredited by Linkly for on premises EFTPOS over TCP/IP, and listed on the Linkly accredited POS directory since September 2026. Ichi Cafe in Kippax, ACT has taken its in-store card payments this way since 22 September 2026.
